Global mobilizations ahead of the Paris COP21 conference

As world leaders begin to assemble for the Paris climate change talks, Greenpeace, WWF and avaaz.org  are joining forces and march for a  strong global climate deal. Dozens of cities around the globe and thousands of people will participate in the global march on November 29th at noon, to demand sustainable solutions in order to tackle climate change.

The French government announced that climate marches planned for 29 November and 12 December in Paris for the COP21 climate negotiations will not be allowed to continue, given the current context in France. WWF representatives stated: “We will ensure that civil society mobilisations in other countries are bigger than ever because we must continue to get leaders to hear the voices of citizens across the world calling for urgent climate action. Some 57 marches, in addition to over two thousand events, are currently planned for the weekend of 28-29 November in capitals around the world.”

In Athens the march will start on Sunday noon from Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, under the Acropolis.

U.S. President Barack Obama, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting at the two-week UN Climate Change Conference to send a strong message to the world about their strong commitment to climate change. COP21 runs until 11 December and nearly 140 world leaders have confirmed their attendance on the opening day.
