The Batsheva Young Ensemble in Athens

The Batsheva Young Ensemble is the younger wing of the larger Batsheva Dance Company, Israel’s premier contemporary dance company. The group is made up of 16 dancers aged 18 to 24 and is a recruiting ground for the senior company, and a platform into many other prestigious companies internationally.

The Ensemble will be at the Athens Concert Hall on December 1st and 2nd to present its show entitled “Decadance”. The event is supported by the Embassy of Israel and it will mark the 25th anniversary of Israel and Greece’s diplomatic relations.

Batsheva Dance Company has been critically acclaimed and popularly embraced as one of the foremost contemporary dance companies in the world. Hailed as one of the world’s preeminent contemporary choreographers, Ohad Naharin assumed the role of Artistic Director in 1990, and propelled the company into a new era with his adventurous curatorial vision and distinctive choreographic voice. Naharin is also the originator of the innovative movement language, Gaga, which has enriched his extraordinary movement invention, revolutionized the company’s training, and emerged as a growing international force in the larger field of movement practices for both dancers and non-dancers.
