Classical music on Greece’s remote islands

The Athens State Orchestra is continuing its “Insisting on the Cyclades” music program, by visiting Greece’s remote islands. Last stops where the islands of Serifos and Kimolos in the Aegean, while two concerts  will take place on December 5 and 6 in Ermoupoli-Syros.

Supported by the Embassy of Germany in Athens, the program aims at strengthening the cultural ties of both countries, by giving people the opportunity to communicate through music.

The Small Ensemble of the Athens State Orchestra on December 5th, at 21.30, will perform works of J. Brahms, L.V. Beethoven and N. Skalkotas, among others at the Apollon theater. German soloist Kiveli Dörken will play the piano and Greek Dimitris Gouzios the cello. The concert will be conducted by Nikos Haliasas.

On December 5 and 6, at 12.00 the Orchestra will hold educational workshops for children with free admission.
