Skiing in Norway: Oslo Winter Park

The Norwegian ski season typically lasts for six months and usually offers good snow conditions throughout.

Oslo Winter Park is just 20 minutes from central Oslo, and is the largest ski resort in the area. It offers many downhill slopes and a vertical drop of 381 metres. The facility has several lifts, including one six-seater express lift. This is one of the few places in the world where you can easily combine big city pleasures with fantastic skiing.

The Winter Park has something for most people, from easy slopes in the beginner’s area near the bakery, to the only European superpipe open to the public. Oslo Winter Park is one of Norway’s largest activity parks with its own slopestyle line, and offers wide tracks for everything from family fun to carving.

At Oslo Winter Park you’ll find a ski school, ski rental, repair shop and café and everything else you expect from an alpine park that aims to cover all your needs. The location, at 531 metres above sea level, along with snow cannons at every track, insures a season lasting from early December to the middle of April. Throughout the season, all tracks are lit by floodlights and open for evening skiing five days a week.

Oslo Winter Park’s ski school aims to inspire and excite by focusing on play, fun and a sense of achievement, in order to create a life-long love of skiing and snowboarding.

The school offers both classes and private sessions at all levels, in disciplines such as cross-country, alpine skiing, telemark and snowboarding. The ski school is open every day from December until Easter, both in the daytime and in the floodlit areas in the evenings, and tutoring is available in Norwegian, English, German and French. All necessary equipment can be rented at the main building (Toppsenteret).

Gear can be rented several places in the park: At the main building (Toppsenteret), by the car park, and in the Wyller area. Here you can rent alpine skis, snowboard, cross country skis, and warm clothing. At the service shop there are helmets, gloves, goggles and everything else you might need for a good skiing experience. Equipment can be pre-booked for rental online, if you wish to plan ahead.
