The first Greek-Chinese Album “Aegean” to be released

Chang Jing, one of China’s most exceptional Guzheng virtuosos and Flute musician Zhang Di were recently invited by Meet Culture to perform in Athens with Greek ancient lyre band, “Lyre n’ Rhapsody”. The concert entitled  “Sound of Silk” captivated the attention of the Greek audience with the beautiful melody of Guzheng, an ancient stringed instrument and the ancient lyre. The Greek and the Chinese musicians then recorded the first ever, Chinese-Greek crossover album “Aegean”, which will be released shortly in Greece and in China.

Most of the songs are improvisations and some are inspired by ancient melodies. The recording of this album was like the meeting between the two ancient civilizations, in a modern dialogue. Furthermore, the Chinese musicians also held a concert on the Aegean island of Santorini during which they cooperated with Lyre ’n’ Rhapsody and the famous Cretan Lyre virtuoso Ross Daly.

The first song released from the album “Aegean” is entitled, “Golden Mist”.

Meet Culture was founded in Athens, Greece in order to promote cultural exchange activities between Chinese and Western culture, including cultural travel in Greece and Greek/Chinese art & handicrafts inheritance. Besides inheriting and popularizing Chinese traditional culture to Western people, Meet Culture also aims at providing better chances for Chinese people to gain deeper and thorough understanding of Western culture.
