The Dutch celebrated the “National Tulip Day” [photos]

The Dutch tulip season officially gets underway in January every year, as the National Tulip Day is celebrated. The event was once again organised by Dutch tulip growers on Saturday, January 16th at Dam square in Amsterdam. Everyone had the opportunity to pick a tulip from a specially constructed garden consisted of some 200,000 tulips!

The special theme for 2016 was “Europe”, as the Netherlands is hosting the EU Presidency.
