SUMMARY:Henrik Ibsen’s "A Doll’s House" in Athens
DESCRIPTION:"A Doll's House" was Ibsen's major international breakthrough and it is currently staged at the Ekati Theatre in Kypseli. The play's theme is a woman’s difficult position in a bourgeois marriage.\n\nIt premiered at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen Denmark\, on December 21\, 1879 and it is still of a great significance\, since its critical attitude towards 19th-century marriage norms are no less relevant today. It aroused great controversy at the time it premiered\, as the main character\, Nora\, leaves her husband Helmer and three young children because she needs to discover herself.\n\nNora is one of Ibsen's great and challenging roles. She acts in different ways towards different people but she manages to preserve a sense of herself.  Her life is filled with illusions but in the end\, she looks the uncomfortable truth in the eyes.\n\n"A Doll’s House"  is performed throughout the winter every Friday\, Saturday and Sunday. It is directed by Valentini Lourba\, translated by Nikos Politis with the actors Xenofon Hatzis\, Anna Koukouliatra\, Kostas Kontaratos\, Annita Mavromichali\, Spyros Andreas Papadatos.\n\nPerformance take place at Ekati Theatre every Friday at 21.00\, Saturday at 19.00 and Sunday at 21.15.\n\nTicket prices: 12 euros and 8 euros for students.
