Refugee crisis: “Decisions towards the right direction”, Tsipras says
“The decisions of the EU Summit on tackling the refugee crisis are towards the right direction” Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Friday. However he noted that there were major delays in Europe’s actions, regarding the measures that need to be undertaken. Tsipras also spoke against xenophobia and the stance of some European governments, “which choose to raise walls against the current refugee crisis”.
The Prime Minister said that refugees should be transferred directly from the Turkish coast to Europe in order to avoid an unsafe transition to the Greek islands. He also underlined that Greece is ready to support the EU in its decision to assist Turkey in dealing with the refugee crisis.
