President Pavlopoulos and Minister Kammenos attend commemoration ceremony at Fort Roupel
President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, the Political and Military Leadership of the Ministry of National Defence attended the commemoration ceremony that was held at Fort Roupel on Tuesday, October 27, 2015.
The Minister of National Defence Panos Kammenos made the following statement:
“The presence of HE President of the Hellenic Republic at Fort Roupel indicates that special attention will be drawn to this fort which, during the II World War proved that there are also forts which do not fall, which do not surrender.
The President of the Hellenic Republic’s wish to establish October 27th as Fort Roupel Day, along with April 6th which is the Anniversary of the Battle of the Forts, is an honour to our country’s Armed Forces and our Ministry of National Defence.
At this point, I wish to remind to the young people that German conquerors presented their arms to the Greek Officers and Soldiers and this is a message that the power of ideals is stronger than the power of arms. It is under these ideals that we, as a Nation, will move on to our future.”
