Canadian Ambassador-designate Keith Morrill introduces himself

In a message on Facebook, Canadian Ambassador-designate Keith Morrill, who has recently arrived in Athens introduced himself.

He writes: “I worked for more than thirty years in Canada’s Foreign Service, serving in Jamaica, New Zealand, in Vienna at the OCSE, and at the UN in New York. Throughout that time, it has always been a pleasure to work with my Greek and Cypriot colleagues. I am a lawyer and economist by training, and for much of my career have worked on various legal issues including international tribunals, international legal cooperation, and law of the sea. Though Vancouver is home, together with my wife Jane and my daughter and son – now adults – I have lived in Ottawa for many years. With our grown children remaining in Canada, Jane and I are looking forward to getting to know the people of Greece and Cyprus over the next few years, to learn from them, and – of course -to see the beauty of the two countries. The links between our countries are founded on common ideals and the myriad close personal connections of our people. I hope that in our time here, we can do everything possible to further strengthen those ties.”
