Refugee crisis on top of the Foreign Ministry’s agenda
The increased refugee influxes and foreign affairs issues were discussed on Friday between Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanatidis and Austrian Ambassador to Greece, Her Excellency Andrea Ikić-Böhm.
The discussion centered mainly on current developments concerning the issue of increased refugee influxes, as well as on the course of the implementation of our country’s economic reform programme. The Austrian Ambassador expressed her appreciation of the progress that has been made in recent months on Greece’s economic status.
The Austrian Ambassador congratulated Greece on the election of Dimitris Raikos to the UN Appeals Tribunal and noted the positive contribution of the Conference on “Religious and Cultural Pluralism and Peaceful Coexistence in the Middle East” to the interfaith dialogue.
Finally, ways were sought to further expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of educational and cultural relations.
Mr Amanatidis also met with the Bulgarian Ambassador to Athens, Her Excellency Emilia Ivanova Kraleva. During the meeting they exchanged views on the prospects for further enhancing and deepening bilateral educational and cultural relations.
