Mogherini – Poposki discuss reforms, fYROM name issue
Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met with Nikola Poposki, Foreign Minister of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
They discussed the ongoing implementation of the June/July political agreement, with a view to holding early parliamentary elections in April of next year and in line with OSCE/ODIHR recommendations. As part of the process, the implementation of Urgent Reform Priorities is needed, in full and in good faith. Maintaining good neighbourly relations, including a solution to the name issue, also remains essential and concrete actions and results are needed without delay.
The HRVP and the Foreign Minister also spoke about the efforts to address the ongoing refugee crisis and migratory challenges more broadly. The EU will continue to support the country’s efforts to manage the crisis, through EU humanitarian as well as technical assistance, including through EU agencies.
