“Kathara Deftera” festivities in the City of Athens
Carnival fesivities continue in Athens until Clean Monday (Kathara Deftera) on March 14th, which marks the start of the Great Lent and it is a public holiday in Greece and Cyprus.
The City of Athens will hold a series of outdoor acitivities for the traditional flying of the kite and feasts of traditional, fasting delicacies and “lagana” bread to celebrate the “koulouma” at Athens neighborhoods.

11.30 Philopappou Hill: Traditional “koulouma” lunch with Greek singers Glykeria and Vassilis Saleas
11.00 K.A.P.A.PS. Park: Traditional music by the Cultural Association of Ano Ambelokipoi.
11.00 Penelope Delta Square- Ellinoroson: Traditional “koulouma” lunch by the Ellinoroson Friendship Club and traditional dances by the “Arion” Music and Dance Group.
12.00 Proskopoi Square, Pagrati: Music event with Kostas Kantzilieris and Maria Manolakou.
20.00 “Anna Maria Kalouta” Theatre: Music and songs from the Greek cinema with soprano Despina Tsolaki, actor Spiros Bibilas, musicians and dancers.
