Diplohack Athens: Opening up the black box of Europe
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Athens and Impact Hub Athens organize for the first time in Greece a hackathon aiming to generate new ideas regarding transparency in Europe, on April 8-10, in Orange Grove.
Researchers, diplomats, developers, journalists, social entrepreneurs, designers and active citizens will join forces. Within a weekend, they will try to develop new business ideas, services and tools to the benefit of a more accessible and open European decision-making for all.
Diplohack Athens is part of a series of hackathons organized all around Europe in the context of the Netherlands’ EU Presidency during the first semester of 2016, in response to a call by Dutch foreign minister Bert Koenders. He had challenged EU citizens to “shine light in the black box of Brussels”. With support of the Embassy of Ireland, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands cooperates with Impact Hub Athens to bring together creative minds, active citizens and experts in a co-creation workshop in order to produce and prototype innovative initiatives in the fields of open data and transparency.
