Intimate jazz night in Athens
Beton7, the Norwegian Institute at Athens and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Athens give you an intimate and unique jazz night in Athens with the Tore Johansen & Vigleik Storaas Duo.
Tore Johansen (b. 1977) and Vigleik Storaas (b. 1965) have worked together since the mid 90’s. From big bands, choirs and orchestra music to the intimate duo setting. Both of them graduated from the jazz department at the well renowned Music Conservatory in Trondheim, Norway.
Tore Johansen has released 15 albums under his own name. He has worked with musicians such as Karin Krog, John Surman, John Taylor, Hal Galper, Egil Kapstad, Lars Jansson, Anders Jormin, Jon Eberson, Andy Sheppard, Arild Andersen and Bugge Wesseltoft to name a few.
Vigleik Storaas has worked with musicians such as Chet Baker, Palle Danielsson, Jack DeJohnette, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Karin Krog, John Surman, John Scofield and Terje Rypdal. He is a double “Norwegian Grammy” award winner with his own trio recordings. Storaas is an active composer and have done commissions for among others Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, documented on the “Tribute” album.
The duo’s performances are melodic and lyrical. Their jazz consist of original compositions paired with American tunes, with a focus on improvisation and ambience.
