On the occasion of Human Rights Day, the Dutch National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings and Sexual Violence against Children visited Athens on December 10 and 11. The National Rapporteur, Ms. Corinne Dettmeijer-Vermeulen and staff member Ms. Verena Elders visited several NGOs, among them the Praksis Athens Polyclinic. Thereafter, Ms. Dettmeijer-Vermeulen had a meeting with Ms. Stamatina Poulou from the office of the Ombudsman for Children.

The National Rapporteur and Ms. Verena Elders had a fruitful discussion with Ms. Piji Protopsaltis, Ms. Zoe Kokalou and Ms. Ioanna Lagoumintzi and exchanged views on the best approach for the reception and care provided to children and unaccompanied minors, especially in light of the current migration crisis.
