The International Digital Film Festival kicks off tonight

More than 150 films will be screened during the  5th Athens International Digital Film Festival, due to take place in Athens, between December 17th and 23rd. Participants come from 40 countries around the world, while 70 films will be screened for the first time, as film makers have chosen Greece as their premier country.

This year the Festival will also give the “Rising Star Award” by the British Foundation MMBF.  Furthermore, it will include the 3rd Panorama of Ecological and Scientific Films, in cooperation with the Finnish Festival Wildlife Vaasa.

Special screenings and workshops

All screenings will take place at the renovated, historical cinemas “Alkyonida” and “Studio” in central Athens. The program includes a tribute to late director Lucia Rikaki, movies from the  Edge Hill University (UK) and the Future Wave Film Festival (Ireland).

A series of workshops and masterclasses will also take place. Famous director, Roviros Manthoulis, will hold a masterclass entitled, “”EDITING, poetry of the irrational”.

A workshop on “New Media Production and Distribution” will be held on December 20th by Vasiliki Kappa (director – festival producer) John Klados (director – member of the organizing committee) and Christos Karakasis (director – artistic director of the festival) at the Antonis Tritsis Auditorium, on 50, Akadimias st.
