New Year’s eve in the City of Athens
The City of Athens will welcome the New Year with a series of events, scheduled to take place in the evening of December 31st in central Athens.
Festivities will begin at noon at Syntagma square, as the Southern Connecticut State University Choir and the University ofAlberta Choir will perform Christmas carols. Both orchestras will be conducted by Simon Carrington. The event is co-organized by Expedition and Travel, under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry.
Giorgos Zacharopoulos and his music company at noon will be at Amerikis square to entertain Athenians.
Athenians will welcome the New Year in Thisio, were a two stages will be set at the corner of Iraklidon and Apostolou Pavlou streets. The concert will begin with the Sugahspank!, the Swing Shoes, the Athens Swing Cats and the Athens Leading Hope, as well as Panos Mouzourakis. A few minutes to midnight the City of Athens Symphony Orchestra, conductor Andreas Tselikas and Greek renowned artist Philippos Pliatsikas will take the stage to welcome the New Year.
