Swedish Sea Rescue Society representative visited the Swedish Embassy
Captain Andreas Arvidsson from the Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS) on April 15th visited the Swedish Embassy in Athens and briefed the staff about this organization’s work, rescuing refugees and migrants in the Aegean Sea.
Since end-October 2015, when “The Yellow Boats” – as they are called – were launched in the Mediterranean, 1,891 people have been rescued from the waters outside Samos. Among them many children, the youngest being only six days old.
The SSRS is a non-profit organization, completely reliant on member-funding, and works solely with rescuing lives at sea. The Swedish Embassy supports their tireless work in all possible ways.
