ANZAC Day Commemoration in Athens

The Australian Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires, Sarah Goodall, recently met the students participating in the NSW Premier’s Anzac Ambassadors Program, accompanied by former NSW Premier Mr Nathan Rees and Ms Melanie Gibbons MP.

The group started their journey in Athens, laying their first wreath at the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Phaleron, before setting off to Lemnos and Crete to honour the Anzacs.

Anzac Day is an important occasion to honour the sacrifice and courage of the original Anzacs and of all servicemen and women who have given their lives in times of war. The Australian Embassy in Athens will host the annual Anzac Day commemoration on Monday, April 25 at the Phaleron Commonwealth War Cemetery.
