Valletta summit on migration decides on action plan

The Valletta summit on migration brought together European and African Heads of State and Government in an effort to strengthen cooperation and address the current challenges but also the opportunities of migration. It recognised that migration is a shared responsibility of countries of origin, transit and destination. EU and Africa worked in a spirit of partnership to find common solutions to challenges of mutual interest.

Jean Sibelius 150 Celebration in Athens

The Finnish Institute at Athens in association with the Theocharakis Foundation, presents a chamber music concert on 12th November celebrating Jean Sibelius’s 150th Anniversary. The concert will be held as part of the official Sibelius Anniversary Activities, featuring internationally celebrated Greek soloists, mezzo-soprano Angelica Cathariou and violoncellist Dimitris Patras with the Finnish pianist, Reima Raijas, performing both popular and rarely heard masterpieces by Sibelius.

Migration: Schulz pleads for long-term approach together with African partners

Martin Schulz called for a comprehensive and long-term migration policy in cooperation with African countries in order to tackle the refugee crisis. The EP President made the plea yesterday [Nov 10] at the Maltese Parliament ahead of the Valletta summit on migration taking place today and tomorrow. Schulz said: “As long as war continues, people will continue to flee and won’t be able to return home.”
