Paris’ Fragonard exhibition at Institut Francais

03/11/2015 @ 8:00 pm

The Institut Francais in Athens is offering a series of virtual tours on France’s most important museums and cultural sites. Starting on November 3rd the Institute’s amhitheatre will host a live, virtual tour of Jean-Honore Fragonard’s exhibition, that is currently underway at the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris.

Fragonard’s relentless fathoming of the theme of love is shown through an exceptional selection of more than 80 pieces, lent by the most prestigious collections in Europe and the United States. The display highlights Fragonard’s prodigious talent as a draughtsman, as well as his ambitious yet frustrated career as an illustrator, with drawings that he made for La Fontaine’s Tales (exceptional loan from the Musée du Petit Palais) and Ariosto’s Orlando Furioso.

Admission to the Institute’s facilities in Athens is free, while the virtual tour will be conducted in French and in Greek.
