Swedish Ambassador visits Young Diplomats Forum

On Tuesday 9 of June the Ambassador of Sweden to Greece, Mrs. Charlotte Wrangberg, visited the annual Young Diplomats Forum (YDF) arranged by the NGO Global Diplomatic Forum.

This year the weeklong event will focus upon subjects like public diplomacy, foreign and security policy as well as EU related issues.

Speaking on the subject of the Challenges to the EU‘s Role as a Diplomatic Actor – 5 Years after the Lisbon Treaty was Ambassador Wrangberg, Professor Abdel-ilah Bennis, Alfonsas Eidintas, Ambassador of Lithuania to Greece and Professor Panayiotis Ioakimidis.

In her speech Ambassador Wrangberg highlighted the Union’s origin as a peace project and the strengthening effects that the Lisbon Treaty has had on EU Foreign Policy. Also mentioned was EU enlargement as well as the importance of the rule of law at the European level. Finally Ambassador Wrangberg spoke about Sweden’s push for a European Global Strategy as well as the need for the Union to meet multiple challenges in its own vicinity.

The seminar was attended by approximately 50 aspiring as well as current diplomats and researchers and was held at the Representation of the European Parliament in Greece.
