Gloomy new statistics signify no end to Eurozone’s economic misery – opinion

The economic misery of the Eurozone doesn’t seem to have an end. According to a preliminary estimate by Eurostat, the EU’s statistical service, GDP growth in the 19 member state monetary zone during the second quarter of this year was as miser as ever. On top of that, inflation continues to oscillate around zero, while unemployment is always in the double digit region.

Survey: people reveal their priorities for the EU

The fight against terrorism should be the EU’s number one priority followed by action on unemployment, the fight against tax fraud, migration, the protection of external borders and the environment, according to the vast majority of people surveyed in a special Eurobarometer carried out by the European Parliament.

ELSTAT surveys labour market situation of migrants and family members

ELSTAT announced the results of the ad hoc survey on the labour market situation of migrants and their immediate descendants. The target population of the survey was persons aged 15 – 64 years. The response rate of the ad hoc survey was 91.2%. For the purposes of the survey the persons that were born abroad or had, at least, one parent born abroad were considered as persons with migrant background.
