President Pavlopoulos met with Mario Draghi (upd)

The President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, on Tuesday visited the European Central Bank (ECB), along with members of his staff. He was accompanied by the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Yannis Stournaras.

During this visit, the President met Mario Draghi, President of the ECB and Benoît Cœuré, member of the ECB’s Executive Board, to discuss the state of the euro area economy and its outlook.

President Pavlopoulos on Monday also met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. Following the meeting the President said that Greece would fully respect its commitments to the economic adjustment program, and asked that all parts consider the possibility of Greece’s debt relief.

Regarding the current refugee crisis President Pavlopoulos said that Europe should support refugees and work towards ending the war in Syria.
